RED BRICK -
Glimpses of perfect suburbia
@ M16 Artspace, Griffith, ACT
29 October - 15 November 2015
This collection of oil paintings is a continuation of my previous suburban house portraits.
During the process of observing and recording Canberran streetscapes, I noticed that some of my earlier subjects had disappeared, and others were marked for sale and redevelopment.
New, modern structures were appearing in their place, with a loss of architectural heritage from the city's early neighbourhoods.
The process of painting these structures has evolved to incorporate at-risk properties, other protected examples of industrial architecture and those of a style and quality now rarely seen.
